The human head has always been a central motif in art — a symbol of mind, senses and identity. In Patricia Dreyfus’ work, heads reappear persistently as an autonomous artistic subject.
Through her clay and bronze heads, she attempts to look inside the human mind. Her work provokes self-reflection, sometimes unsettling, as it seeks to uncover what lies behind the masks we wear — including her own. Her practice is driven by an uncompromising dialogue with herself, a search for truth and authenticity beyond surface appearances.
Dreyfus has developed a distinctive visual language drawn from memories and dreams. Her extensive archive of images reads like a diary, revealing hidden and long-suppressed experiences. The series Les Invisibles, comprising 200 drawings, makes the unseen visible with striking presence.
Working across drawing, embroidery and sculpture, she orchestrates her works like a symphonic composition. The viewer is drawn into a multilayered experience — a space between dream and reality, introspection and projection — where the images continue to resonate long after the encounter.
