SUSPENDED
Magdalenenkapelle Burgdorf, Hannover
31.08.2024 – 20.10.2024
A long, transparent fabric (160 × 500 cm) hangs from the ceiling, spreading through the space. Small light cotton rectangles are attached to it, creating a sculptural interplay of light and shadow. Their strict, symmetrical arrangement on the hanging fabric dissolves on the floor, where the pieces appear scattered and displaced.
At the centre lies a small plaster model of a house. From it, red threads extend across the surface toward the fabric rectangles, forming an intricate network of lines. The house suggests a personal core — a matrix — from which connections radiate outward, like life paths or pulsating vessels.
The embroidered rectangles contain fragmented female figures: heads, bodies, metamorphic forms. They appear alone or in pairs, upright or inverted, pregnant, giving birth, or transforming. The imagery remains enigmatic, surreal, and suggestive.
The installation appears light and almost immaterial, yet it occupies the space with quiet intensity. “Suspended” evokes states of being in-between — floating, unresolved, postponed. The work reflects personal memory and experience, forming a narrative that is intimate yet inaccessible, inviting viewers to confront their own histories.
